Looking Back 25 years

Journal Entry:  February 27, 1990

Jenny started walking to school by herself yesterday.  Duane has walked half-way with her for two days now, I don't know if he can get away with it again.  Jenny is determined to walk by herself!  Duane said today he felt old because our little girl is growing up!

Jenny made a map of the way to school, then she carried it in her hand today as she walked!  The cats follow her, it is quite a picture.  Duane and I didn't hardly want to let go, but I guess we have too.  We can't keep her from growing up!  Jenny is a responsible little girl.  She has lost her two front teeth last week.  Sarah is getting a bunch of teeth, six we think.  One front tooth is through.  They are giving her a time, but she's getting more exercise from the extra crying and fighting her teeth.

March 1, 1990:

I write in this journal while I'm giving Sarah her bottle.  That takes about a half hour.  It use to take longer.  Duane is cleaning off the porch.  He is still walking Jenny to the top of the hill in the mornings to school. (Duane works the night shift.)  Jenny wants him to walk with her now, and Duane is kind of wanting to quit !?  I take Sarah to therapy this morning at Maryville.  Sarah is progressing and doing better in therapy.  Jenny went to the after school program, Stars, at church and also Children's Choir. I waited at Little Grandma's.

Duane has made it a habit and an enjoyable experience to walk Jenny half-way to school in the mornings.  Duane is a very loving and good father.  He takes time for the girls.  I didn't say he was perfect, but I know he is very sensitive and wants to be a good father.  He loves Jenny and Sarah very much!  (Daniel joined us four months later.)

I had not read in this journal since I wrote it 25 years ago.  Life never slowed down enough to sit and ponder and look at pictures!  I am so thankful for the wonderful memories God gave us.
